Those side clips are cool!

Really nice looking rifle.
That right chamber seems to have done a fair bit more work than the left.
One shot seems to have been good enough, time after time..!

Cheers

Very nice indeed!
I agree with Tinker that those side clips are way cool.
Looks to be a Blitz type action?
Thanks for posting.

NE Gents,

Thank you for your nice comments.

Mehul Kamdar,

I haven't shot this one as yet but there is a good chance it will be accompanying me on a Russian boar hunt I have booked for the third week in January. It will be a good tool for the job at hand.

On another note, our friend Raimey has shared a description of this piece from a period Franz W. Kessler catalog that he has. The gun is FWK's Model 17, the description goes as follows:

17. Hammerless double barrel rifle system Tip-Top with extra strong Greener action, the barrels with side-wings, long and extra strong breech block for cartridges with strong chargings, with chain-stitch engraving, rosettes and adorned shells, black garniture.

Regards,

Buchseman

Buchseman,

A very good friend's younger brother shot a monster feral pig near Prairie du Chien recently, but that was with a shotgun and slugs.I hope you bag a fantastic trophy with this very beautiful rifle. I know that WI allows hunting with rifles in Shawano, but are there other locations where you can hunt with a rifle?

BTW we used to live in Appleton some time ago and my wife has her closest friends in the Fox Valley.

Good hunting!

Mehul,

I’m not really up with the latest hunting regulations in my home state of Wisconsin but I've heard that rifle hunting, for whitetail anyway, has been opened up to most of the state except for a couple counties in the west and a fair patch of the east. I'm not sure what our DNR has set up for bear hunting, for specifics one would have to go to the WI DNR's website. For quite some time I've been doing my whitetail hunting in Iowa and the last bear I shot was in Montana. My Russian boar hunt will take place in the UP of Michigan.

Being from Appleton you probably have some knowledge of the Milwaukee area. My old buds still call me "Eastsider" due to my residing in close proximity to Lake Michigan for many years. That will be changing, hopefully soon, once we find the larger property we’ve been looking for.

Thank you for the wishes for a good hunt or as the German's say, Waidmannsheil!

Best regards,

Buchseman

I failed to mention that this one came with it's original Zeiss scope.

Buchseman,

Better and better! Few doubles look nice with a scope and yours is one of them!

The WI DNR head used to be someone I know - a very passionate ML hunter and one of the nicest guys around. I'll PM you his contact details right after this if you need to talk to him. Tell him "Hi" from me.

I do know Milwaukee and the surrounding suburbs well as we have friends there, but the only place where I have hunted in WI is the Wolf River Bottom public hunting area near the Fox Valley. The news that you've given me about rifle hunting being permitted in many more counties is excellent. It was all shotgun and ML except in Shawano some years ago, but rifle caliber Contenders were allowed. The authorities must have realized that this was silly.

Good hunting!
