Yes I was amazed to read that via a link about the new rifle on another thread. Never realised the Canuck Ranger Service still used SMLE's.

I have seen SMLE's used in India still and also last time I was in Kenya, by some Park rangers. Yep no need to rush these things.

Daryl from what I have read I do not think the replacement was due to any inefficiency in the 303 Lee Enfield but rather the difficulty of getting some parts and barrels. Nitrox as you speak I was just watching a show where Indian game officials were tracking a man eating Tiger in India and I spotted a nice custom 303 Lee Enfield in the hands of a park ranger. That rifle will be around for another 100 years
