Grenadier,

Good info and I admit to Talleys and EAW swingmounts on some of my bangsticks. I'll post a few snaps when I'm able.

I like your closing comment "H&H is very attentive to my tastes and priorities".

And so they should be. (smile)

Excellent caliber and very beautiful rifle! What kind of engraving are you going for?

That's the pattern on several of the H&H falling block rifles, including the one in the London showroom.

I think F.C Selous had a.303 Holland & Holland Farquharson single shot,IMO he would have had same kind of engraving

Here is a picture of him with his rifle

the 2 vintage rifles shown are on the very rare 1894 Holland/Woodward patent....they are not farqs. I currently am building up a custom rifle in .375 flanged magnum on a 1894 action. I own an original Holland falling block on a PD farq action in .30 super rimmed, hard to beat the .30 super for mid-sized game. I am going to have my action that I am currently building engraved in a Holland house pattern also. I'm glad to see that H&H is building a new single shot rifle....it looks great!

Please keep us updated. It's my dream to order a rifle from H&H and this is as much of the inside process as I've ever seen.

Your rifle is splendid. Heartiest congratulations. Will it be fully cased with accessories?

No. I already have "cased" guns and the cases, though beautiful, are not very practicable. I end up taking the guns out of the cases both for storage and travel. The only time the guns go in leather cases is for display and I don't run a museum. So, I end up with a lot of cases sitting around. This time I decided enough is enough, no fancy case. It will only come with a basic travel case.

Hold on to that dream. In 1985 I wrote Holland & Holland of London a letter to inquire about ordering a basic .375 bolt action rifle. They sent me a very nice letter informing me of options and pricing. I had to hold off the purchase for a while. Eventually, I bought a second-hand version of that rifle a few years ago. Now, I have a bespoke .300 single shot to go with it.

I often catch myself saying, "Anything worth having is worth waiting for".

By the way, I still have that old letter.

Quel surprise!

H&H knew I was going to be at the SCI Convention and Mr. Guy Davies brought the gun from New York to surprise me. It's here at the show and I am allowing H&H to display it. If you are attending SCI then you can go by the H&H booth to look at the rifle. Meanwhile, I will be photographing the rifle and I'll try to get some "first look" pictures posted.

Mate,

Nitpicking but: I'd have reservations abt the profile of the tang safety particularly on the return and the minor amendments to what are apparent generic Talley scope rings. (cost vs inherent value)

BTW nice wood. (Turk, Oz or hybrid?)

Open for discussion.

Absolutely a stunning rifle you are having built. I'd be happy and use it without hesitation. Can't fault a single thing about it.

When I spec'd the small actioned Hagn actioned rifle I'm having built, I did prefer the wheel safety over the sliding tang because of the noise, but other than that, absolutely a stunning rifle. May you have many years of enjoyment and exceptional trophies fall to this instrument.

Seems no one has commented on this gorgeous work of art of late and I wanted to pay respects to the chef as well as the cooks in the kitchen! Great list of quality ingredients and excellent choice for using a classic recipe!

Seriously, seeing the pics of this rifle gives me greater confidence in H&H. Hopefully clients like yourself will help erase the memory of some of the rifles specified and delivered in the 70s and 80s!

Who did the colour case work, St Ledger? (but I have been out of the loop for a while)

Very flash stuff esp the timber!

I´ll wager $200 St Ledger, he does most of their case hardening. Interested in that quote earlier about stuff they were sending out in the 70´s and 80´s, what was up ? I saw the rifle above in the white...was nice then ! Stunning now, best, Mike

Lovely gun, and nice to see they have done away with using that horrid Ruger action.

We´ll have to see how mine turns out General, getting towards the engraving stage now. I didn´t know Holland ever made a single shot on the Ruger action ? best, mike
