Very sorry to hear that. I had many email exchanges with Michael over the years on various G&H rifles and other pre-war custom rifles. It hasn't been long since he responded to one of my posts on this forum about gun photography.

Do you have any more information?

Without a doubt, Michael was one of the true gentlemen of the gun world and a wealth of information.
I can't think of anyone with his depth of knowledge or as eager to share his passion for pre-war American sporting rifles.
A tremendous loss...

I too did a little correspondence with Michael. I have his two books of course.
Sad to read Michael isn't with us anymore...and yet in a way he will always be here.

RIP Michael.

Michael seemed to be doing better when I visited him last month and was working on putting down information on a rifle collection of a friend's of his who had died recently. I suggested that he do the same for his and hope he had at least started.
He was an absolute storehouse of information. Fortunately he had put some of it into his two books.

i cant believe it ,and its only been a few months since mark benenson (mikes friend) and gun collector passed on ,, ive sold the two of them many nice guns and consider mike a friend .......paul

Mr. Petrov was a gentleman and a scholar. He will be sorely missed.
