For firearms that are declared prohibited he - we also have a reimbursement law.

When the previous Canadian Governments (Liberal) used the" bring in your 'deactivated M14' for disposal- you have 7 days to comply- law, they declared they didn't have to reimburse the owners for a 'fair marker value', as the now prohibited firearm no longer had any market value

Thanks Daryl,
i was curious how it happened there. The Regime here (strictly a Beltway rumour) is a UN style confiscation of naughty guns. And tight restriction of others.

Rod, I have found that as well. Sold mine for a "I couldn't refuse price". There are plenty for the 300-ish price at Simpsons but I have sold many 46, 146 & 640's for far more

I don't think we will see confiscation and I really don't even see a Federal ban on AR's and the like.

Right now the Federal strategy seems to be to get the states to do it. that is, to provide all the support they can to any state legislature or Governor who wants to institute draconian gun control.

I THINK Obama's handlers and advisors {especially including Bill Clinton who remembers '94} are making it clear gun control is bad juju for Federal Congressmen and Presidents to-boot.

Watch the methods being used by the Hussein Regime in Colorado.

Anyway, there are currently millions now, if interpolation from the the last report from BATFE is accurate, of AR type rifles in private hands in the USA and that is not even counting the AK's and other high cap semiautos out there.

Here, and granted...it's Idaho...but pretty much everybody I know has one or more of the above. Our state, and many others, would be a mess of bookkeeping and etc, and yes, the "etc" part is likely IMO, for the Feds if the Feds started a confiscation program...and I cannot see the state doing it anytime soon.

True, we have a Socialist Governor {member of the Republican party, too} and I would put nothing past him if the Feds "demanded" something...anything...of him, but at this point, the Legislature would never go along with it.

Having said all that.....

Tho I do not own any 9.3x57 rifles anymore {I still have my pet 16" bbl 9.3x62 for my more or less annual bear}, all 9.3's make great "legislation-proof" firearms and .375 bullets can be sized dow and .35 cal bullets paper-patched UP to shoot in them, not to mention casting.

Indeed. I have a beater M77 ruger in 308 for just that roll. Cast, 9/32 drill in a old mold and some paper, piles of bullets from 71gr pistol stuff to 240gr Woodleighs, HP, fmj, swaged, AP, SALVO, SLAP, SLAP-T, sub-sonic, incendiary ........ Make brass out of most anything in the "'06" family. Use most any salavaged powder.......

Caprivi.

Yup!!!

Some time ago I began to trade worry for observation of the problems, and frustration for creativity. Sounds like you are already there.

Hey Rod,
Really hate to co-opt a thread, but I started this one, so what the heck.

The election of '08 cost us our construction business. It is over for the most part, just me left as the only employee, makes almost enough to service its debt. I was already politically active then, went full throttle to "Save the Republic".....after this election, the Wednesday after, was the last time I turned on the News of any sort. Done with all of it. I have no interest in the Republic. It is a also ran, like any other nation now.

Agreed ..... "trade worry for observation of the problems, and frustration for creativity" ..... far more rewarding

In my humble opinion they, whatever powers to be, will indeed come up with a assault weapons ban of some sort making them worthless, they will indeed nationalize Gold, they will tax 401K accounts, they will strip SSI, they will "make" us use Obamacare.........

Here in Wyoming (as with your Idaho, Rod)I will be somewhat insulated. I will have a few "legislation" acceptable guns and a workshop. From that I will be protected and a freezer with meat in it.
