Difference between Searcy PH, Deluxe, 577 boxlock
      #39494 - 22/10/05 10:40 AM

What are the differences between Searcy's PH DR, his Deluxe DR, and the 577 boxlock? Does anyone own any of them and if so what have been your experiences? I am trying to decide which Searcy to get. I have plans to go see his shop and check out a few DR's in early november. I really like the 577 Boxlock but a few people have told me the 500 might be a better choice. Any experiences would be very helpful.

1) better wood
2) better engraving
3) articulated trigger
4) intercepting sears (prevents double firing)

Unless your stupid enough to pull both triggers at the
same time or let the rear trigger be touched off accidently
when you fire the front trigger.

I think the intercepting sears are on all the currently produced Searcy doubles now.

Bulldog563,

I own a .577 delux with upgraded engraving. First off I will say I love the rifle and I've enjoyed the whole regulation experience. I've been guiding grouse and woodcock for the last month so I have not completed my range testing. I will get back to the range in two weeks. What you should consider is that the recoil is heavy. I found that it takes a while to get used to it and that a range session for me is about 8 to 10 rounds. I bought the gun used and it was a little short for me. This lead to my thumb knucle hitting my nose upon firing. After adding a 1" pad I find the recoil manageable. I will be posting my end results when I'm finally there. As for Searcy's quality, service and value, he can't be beat in my opinion.
