Hoenig Round Action Double

I handled one at SCI this year, very appealing. The mount system was alittle bulky for my liking, but that could be solved/refined.also, conetrol rings would be somewhat sleeker for the profile of the rig.
I dont know how quick it is to reload(no ejectors). So I would not consider it a serious DG at this stage. The Hagn Falling Block Double would suit me more. Drop the block and you have both chambers at your disposal without the twisting, pulling & tilting like the Koenig.
I asked Mr.Koenig a couple of questions:
-Can a person order just the metal work?....NO.
-Can you have one without engraving?........NO.(strange!)

I looked over the prototype 3 years ago at SCI. It is a very unique action and surprisingly handy, although a bit heavy. The workmanship is first class, as is all of Georges work. The price wasn't too bad, if I remember, in the high $20s.

I would love to have one in a .375Fl.

I have shot them and played a bit with them as a couple of good friends of mine have them.

The workmanship is awesome, like a swiss watch, but to my thinking they are a little over engineered and I would not want to hunt dangerous game with them...I have this KISS policy on DG...just a simple double, two triggers, extractors, and a recoil pad suit me fine.

George is a genius and geniuses tend to be a bit eccentric. Like Ray, I wouldn't consider it a DGR even in an appropriate caliber (which I don't think he would build for you, anyway) but for American woods stalking or European driven hunts it would be the knees of one very upscale bee.

George told me he does not go bigger than 9.3 x 74R.
