Spent another great time in the jungle after those buffs... shot a small bull, but what a great enjoyable hunt in the wilderness.

The norma 500 grains woodleight softs did work well.

Hope you all have great hunts too!!!

Great photos and great shot. Just where every animal should be hit on a side on shot, through the shoulders not behind them. I bet that buff was anchored?

Thanks, I do have some more photos that I will load latter.

These buff are from India, mostly of the Murrah breed (there are some Jafarabadi blood also from India mixed). They were brought to that part of the amazon region over 40 years ago. Some fled into the marshes and turned wild. They are now distributed for some 100kms in a north/south direction. The population is small, I can´t say the size, probably less than 1000 animals distributed in pockets. Small herds of 10 to 30 animals each. They have a lot of good habitat and so they move when pressed.

The murrah has a small curling horn. The Jaffarabi has the long horns droping down. Both breeds are much bigger than the cape or even the other asiatic buffalo found in Australia. We also have in the Amazon what we call the Carabao breed. This is exactly the Australian type buff. Their populations are found in the very north parts of the amazon such as Marajo Island and in Amapa (this is part of brazil in the northern hemisphere). The carabao is also found in the extreme west of the amazon (Rondonia) where sci did organize some hunts.

That buff went run no more than 30 meters and already stopped feeling very sick, my tracker then shot him fom the back with my other doulbe (9.3x74r) and it dropped. But it was already tumbling.
