All done DOWNUNDA

Hi fellas,

With the owners kind permission, I will share the images of a job I'm working on. It started with me, over 12mths ago, to have the barrel fitted, sight bases and sling swivel soldered and other sundry metal work done. It next went to the stock maker, Bill in Gunnedah, to have a nice piece of walnut fitted, then on to Ronny Croxon, of Tamworth, who cut the lovely engraving. It's back with me now to apply the final touches and Rust Blue all. It is a real privilege to be associated with such talented people.

My 16yo son Cameron says 'Pretty Cool'. That must mean Excellent, or something similar.
Good to see lovely work like that done in Northern NSW.

Very nice and classy.

Do you have any photos of it full length?

And what is its first intended prey? Sambar, water buffalo, or somewhere much further to the West? Or just for pride of ownership?

Looks like a very nice rifle and also a classic calibre. Well done.

Nice stuff!

As Mr Croxon was tutored by Bruce Dean then the engraving and especially the lettering is very precise, crisp (and nice), thought the border on the forward receiver ring might benefit from a recut. Any shots yet of 3d relief forthcoming from Ron????

Thanks for the comments. I did take a full length photo the other day, but it was no good. You'll just have to wait till it's blued and back together again. Sorry. I'm just getting the hang of this forum.

Pity abt that. I had a convo with him today.

Martini and Alex Henry next month, then the 404 Jeff, Savage 99, low wall and the 3 Westley falling blocks in 2011.

408NICKAL does all my gunsmithing now. If you live in northern NSW I would highly recommend him.

My 9.3x62 he built last year will be tested in Africa in 5 weeks. Stay tuned. It's not as 'flash' as the above example of his work as I ordered a working rifle. I can't fault it and it shoots like stink.



He is currently building me a 'flash' 7x64 FN Mauser 98.

Put it all together today and here is the result. I'm very happy with the owners new baby ( his wife's expecting their first anytime ) I wonder if he'll tell her?
