Need Good Double Rifle Stocker

Any ideas on who you would use to restock an English Double Rifle in the US?

I'd like an experienced stocker that would be able to do a first class job.

Try Show-Me gunstocks in Warsaw MO. 660-438-4568. I recently watched a T.V. program (I forget which one) where they restocked a sidelock Holland & Holland. Very nice when finished.

Jack Haugh in Indiana.He is a great stock maker and turn around time is pretty quick.He also knows what one is supposed to look like.

It's the inletting that is vitally important
as most people can make a stock look good
and be the right shape on the outside.

And use the correct wood for the peiord of the gun.

I am leaning towards JJ because I am comfortable with the quality of his work. But I know there are others that people are comfortable with.

I haven't seen a Double JJ stocked, I've seen some bolt guns which looked great.

Anyone else?

How does he have time to build rifles, stock rifles, repair rifles, regulate rifles, do load development on rifles, race cars, eat etc etc and still sleep?

Is he a stockmaker or a gun maker? I have yet to see anyone who can do both at the highest level.

Is he an engraver also?

I have seen doubles and bolt rifles JJ has stocked.
I have seen doubles that he has "re-barreled". I have seen bolt rifles he has totally built, all metal and wood.
I saw one double that had extensive water damage on the bbls and one side of the action had seriously rusted away that he rebuilt. All of his work that I have seen has been first rate.
He made a trigger guard for my wifes drilling from steel to replace the broken plastic one. It is perfect.
He "Bent" the stock on my 450 No2 to fit me better.

He's snuck up on a new one. Barrels are great, but the wood isn't.

That I know of, I've only seen one DR that J. J. had stocked, a .500/.450 Royal, and it was nice.

I would recommend Winston Elrod of Michigan. He has experience with boxlocks, sidelocks, bolts, and DR's. He is very meticulous and does excellent checkering. His phone # is989-865-6683
