big bore cast bullets

I thought I would let everyone know that I have had good luck with cast bullets from Wayne Doudna of customcast.com. He makes some of the big bore stuff, up to .622 diameter, as well as small bore and handgun cast bullets.

I have played with 500 grain paper patched bullets in my 458. They shoot very well with full power loads. If I decide to reload for my 505 I will get Hoch to make me an adjustable weight mold for paper patch in that caliber. I don't know if they will hold up to the speed of the 505 in it's normal weight. If not I'll jump the weight to 600 grains, as I already know the bullet can stand that speed.

What hardness is he casting his bullets? That's a pretty good price on his bullets. I cast my own but would be tempted to try those 580gr. or 700gr. ones. That 405gr. Postell threw me, my mold is a 535gr. Postell. My 405gr. is a flat point. Also mold the 500gr. roundnose. That Postell is my favorite though. Thanks for the site, may have to get some of those 700gr. for shits and grins.
