What is the most overrated African cartridge??

All rounds kill if placed correctly, but which ones do
hunters use and are given mystical killing powers they don't possess?

I would have to say the 460 wby as it seems to be at its best when downloaded by 300 fps.

I agree 100%. Thats why I use a .450 Rigby Rimless. And use heavier bullets where possible.

I have never seen a 460 not kill what it was supposed to. Even though it is loaded at higher pressures.

bigdog ..my 460 weatherby ..loaded with factory 450 barnes X took my Cape Buff in 1 shot. He ran 20 yards and then went down..the bullet lost 80 grains of weight. I wonder how many people in this forum
have ever hunted with a 460 weatherby?I do like this forum as I'm buying a double..577 Nitro...steve

The thing almost everyone has against this cartridge is that it is pushed way too fast....2700 for a 500 gr is stupid...the same bullet at a more modest 2300+ is just the thing...and not too many shooters can tolerate a 500@2700 for many shots...
