Need a 505 or 500 Bolt Gun

Any of you Big Bore Nuts know of a .505 Gibbs or 500 Jeferys for sale,especially a Frank Wells? I need a backup "light rifle" for a upcoming safari...Thanks for your time and efforts! Happy Hunting"!

Check out the CZ rifles they offer a .505 Gibbs in the 550 Safari Magnum, or I can build you one if you want but custom aint cheep!! Check out http://www.customguns.us.com

The banner on this forum has an ad for Heym rifles, and there is a Heym bolt gun NIB in .505 for $6750, I understand. That is an excellent price for a rifle which would require a 3 year wait and and $11K from many custom gun builders. The Heym rifles are stout too, and will stand up to the rigors of a safari.

There was a Frank Wells custom for sale on Guns America under the custom gun section. The same seller also had a .375 for sale. They looked beautiful but that was a couple of weeks ago.

If that's worth $29+, what's an original Gibbs 505 Gibbs worth ?

As a collector's item, an original 505 Gibbs would be worth...........a lot!

However, a H&W custom rifle is much better built and exhibits much better quality and workmanship and internal dynamics (steels, heat-treating, barrels, exacting tolerances) than the best of the old British magazine rifles ever did.

If you were to comission H&W to build an identical rifle today, it would cost much, much more than $29K..........

I tend to agree with you - H&W guns are superbly made and
look and feel great in the hand - I've seen / handled / shot a couple.
