GS Custom bullets recovered from game

GS Custom flat nose copper bullets. Available from www.gscustom.co.za

From left (all GS Custom):

(1) unfired 570 grain 500 Nitro Express bullet
(2) 570 grain 500 NE bullet fired into elephant (frontal brain) - penetrated 74 inches, but missed neck vertebrae
(3) 570 grain 500 NE bullet fired into elephant (frontal brain) - penetrated 31 inches and stuck in neck vertebrae
(4) 570 grain bullet fired into buffalo (body shot) - penetrated 60 inches
(5) unfired 500 grain .470 Capstick bullet
(6) 500 grain .474" bullet fired into buffalo (body shot) - penetrated 56"
(7) 500 grain .474" bullet fired into giraffe (body shot) - penetrated 40"

They are not as flat out to the edge as the Bridgers. Is that a feeding related issue or something to do with penetration or "whatever"

Actually the nose of those bullets are about the same sort of bevel and shape as one would see on the base of something like a Hornady 375 or 458

Mike,

I think the greater radius at the edge of the meplat is to aid in feeding in a wide variety of rifles. Of course the best way to approach feeding is to assemble some dummies with your chosen bullet, then take them to your chosen gunsmith and have him built the rifle specifically to feed those bullets.

Is GSCustom back in service. I wonder if I am going to see the brass cases I ordered in 2002?

Edit:Actually it was 2001 before 9-11

Hi DoubleD,
I reviewed all our 2001 orders for M/H cases and all were finalised. E-mail me with your name so that I can search for your specific order. Bear in mind that we have no means of knowing if an order did not arrive other than if the customer tells us. We have a 6 month deadline on claims from the postal services and have amended the information we give customers to make them aware of that.

Gerard,

We went through that in 2001 including copies of cancelled checks, letters and emails. I even made phone calls which were taken by a nice young lady, I believe your daughter who said she had taken over the business. Still no cases and more excuses.

I wrote that off back then after I got virtually the same responses then as you have posted now along with others. I long ago gave up any hope of getting my cases. I only have left the memory of the deal. I won't forget.

This has been drug through the dirt here and on other forums for quite a while, on and off. As I see it, the whole issue is a "he said, she said", and nothing will be resolved here. Since this allegedly occurred 4 years ago, let's just move forward from here.

Yeah Mike you are probably right, time has past and I was only out thirty bucks or so and the time over a year and a half trying to get my money back or the cases. Never did air it publicly before, and I must have been in a bad mood when he popped in here and I took my cheap shot!.

He does have a good product...so others have told me.
