Hunting in 2006 in Africa?
      #43490 - 09/12/05 04:38 AM

The New Year is not far off. Who is hoping to get over to Africa for a safari and what are your plans?

Which country? What target game?

Have fun.

I am hunting in Zimbabwe 31 days in March 2006.
I have "on quota" two elephant trophy bulls, 4 crop raiding bulls [if they are raiding the crops] 5 cow elephants, 2 buffalo bulls, leopard, crock, hippo and what ever plains game "get in the way".
The plan is to hunt the elephant bulls in DEKA, go to the OMAY for the cow elephant, crock and hippo, and to the SAVE for ,the buff bulls.
The main quary are the elephant trophy bulls and the leopard so movement will depend on them.

I will be taking my 450 No2 and my 9,3x74R [scoped]both doubles and my Freedom Arms 475 Linebaugh.

NE450No2,

That sounds like an awesome hunt. If you don't mind, roughly how much does something like that cost? Who are you goin with?

I'm going to Namibia and hunting with Vaughan Fulton for leopard and plains game. I'll be using a custom 375 H&H. This will be my first hunting trip to Africa, so I am driving all my friends crazy talking about it.

In Oct for three, four or five tuskless, TBD yet. Plus a big Southern Bushbuck, an Nyala and a leopard, though it will be very late in the season for leopard.

I hope to get to Zimbabwe myself in 2006, but I don't think I will book anything. I'm hoping there will be some late season deals going on elephant and buffalo. If not I will have consoled myself with some Aussie hunting earlier in the year.

I have not decided yet. I still want to hunt moose here in NA and am putting in for some draws. If I draw I may not get to Africa this year. We will see. If I do go, Namibia as on top of the list so far.

I'm planning for Mozambique (buffalo). If this fails, perhaps ZIM or TZ.

Planning on Zim for cow buffalo and, with luck, sable. I'd like a nice big cow next to my old bull in my office.

I'm hunting with two of my local friends in Zimbabwe next season with Roger Whittall Safaris, and we're hunting in the Humani area. No dangerous game on this safari, just plainsgame. My personal focus is going to be on nyala, croc, kudu, eland, and bushbuck, but I'll take just about any good trophy we happen across.......

THE CENTRAL AFRICA REPUBLIC

IN 6 DAYS, I'll fly to the CAR again with Michel Angelvy and ACP PH Herve Houdebine.

The wished bag is
1) BONGO
2) if failing, LEOPARD
3) GIANT FORREST HOG AND SITATUNGA
4) TO SPEND TIME BUFFALO BOWHUNTING
5) A TROPHY WATERBUCK
6) Please no LION with the bow (sure I'd resist )
7) only if over 45 inches, a Derby eland.

And chance will rule all this projects.
Happy New Year

Thank You all,

In 3 days I’ll enjoy dear Africa.
Not all is ship shape. I am looking for a gnat net. My order at BassProShop is not delivered and I don’t recover from a lumbago
The 375HH is shooting like in a dream but the heavy arrows from the Bowtech 82# allegiance are a bit temperamental, the light arrows are just fine.
In the CAR, the outfitter had to visit Bangui and deal with the administration. His 1 000 000 ha area (2 500 000 acres) has been tripled by the administration (7 500 000 acres)and he is supposed to pay a tripled rent : crazy behaviour. Yet the area is larger than all the Zimbabwe safari areas, more than half the Selous’s size. Madness!!!!!!!!!!
Anyhow Michel has not more PHs, more vehicles, more clients.

Larcher,

I find that lots of exercises for the abdominal muscles plus some yoga stretches twice per day combined with a lot of walking makes my lumbago go away. Doing the backstroke at the local pool also helps. And if it doesn't, then 800 mg of Ibuprofen takes care of things.

However, I find air travel very uncomfortable. So I spend a lot of time in the aisle doing deep knee bends, much to the annyoance of the air waitresses.
