The trophy fee on that lion is 6k. I just got off the phone with Buzz and there are good lion in that area. I hunted Makuti earlier this season with them and know there are lions in the area that are following the buffalo. There are lots of elephant, buff and sable too in Makuti.

perhaps I am a bit misguided here--but the $950 per day rate for a cancellation hunt isn't exactely a bargain rate....

The point is you can go on a buff hunt and pay only a TF for the lion. Also, it's not being presented as a discounted hunt so much as it's an opportunity to take the only lion on quota. Another client hunted but did not take a lion although he took buff, leopard, sable, etc. Also, lions are rarely available on a 15 day hunt so in fact, you are seeing a "inexpensive" lion hunt...hunting at buff daily rates and less required days with a good chance to take a lion for TF only.

If I had the money I would go myself as I trust the PH and know the area and it is in fact a good deal.

For those that are fit and want to hunt lion by tracking or off Bait in the Zambezi valley, this is a good deal.
I would extend it to eighteen days to make use of the Leopard quota as well.
It will be hot.

I agree with much of the above with the exception of "hunting buff with the possibility of taking a lion"..

A lion hunt is a highly specialized hunt and requires 100% focus to capitalize on this --so, are you our there putting up baits, checking for tracks, putting up blinds, etc or are you out hunting buffalo and if you happen upon a lion you can take him??

I agree for strictly a lion hunt, yes it is a good price however that is not how it was presented originally on the first blog..

If lion is the object than obviously lion will be the primary goal. This is a lion hunt at buff rates. It's a good company and I personally have zero problems recommending them based upon my experiences and those of many others.

**Again-- I am not trying to argue with you, but, it states no where on the initial message that this is a lion specific hunt. It states that it is a-- 15 HUNT FOR BUFF, LION, LEOPARD, SABLE, ETC. or something like that..

I have no qualms that this is a reputable firm--it states there are lots of lion and you stand a good chance of getting a lion--again--as it is stated, one would assume that based on the heading of the hunt that you would be hunting those in the list and not exclusively lion..
