Model 70 Classic 375 h&h worth $750?

rifle manufactured in 1975. Looks to be about 85% with minor handling marks. Comes with leopold vxIII 1.5x5 push feed.

I'm looking for first dg gun and do not want to spend mega $$. would CZ 550 be better alternative?

Chris:
Depends whether those 750 bills are US Dollars, Australian dollars, or Zimbabwe dollars!

IMO the scope is worth at least $300.00, so you would have $450.00 into the rifle. I don't and won't debate the merits of push feed vs. controlled feed here. If it's strictly a money issue, then I'd buy it, but, if I could afford it, I'd look for a Ruger, Winchester, or CZ in controlled feed, only because that's my personal preference in a DG rifle. I guess it all depends on how much DG hunting you're planning to do. If you plan on using it for mostly plains game, and a buff, or two, then I might consider buying it, and put the money saved toward trophy fees.

For me it depends on how soon you are going to go DG hunting. If a few years or more out I would buy it, shoot the crap out of it and then sell it without the scope. Use the scope for a CRF rifle in 375 or 416 to go hunting with.
