With the talk about "Cheap" buffalo hunts and Tanzania. I thought I might post what we have on offer in Mahenge North this year. I posted this on AR but not everyone may have seen it.

2X1 10 DAY BUFFALO HUNT $9950 PLUS TROPHY FEES AND IN-COUNTRY TRANSPORATION. EVERYTHING ELSE IS INCLUDE.

This hunt allows each hunter 2 buffalo plus plains game. You would be in no way sharing a license. You could charter back and forth from Dar Es Salaam about $1500 each way but I might take the road transfer option that would cost $800 each way for the vehicle.

The camp will be brand new this year and we will have a full time anti poaching team on site. Also clients will have camp exclusivity.

Paul Horsley will be the resident PH and will have been in Mahenge running the anti poaching team months before the first clients arrive so he will be intimately familiar with the area.

The area is basically wilderness except on its Western border. There are loads of buffalo plus the usual Selous plains game species.

A 1x1 buff hunt or a 16 cat hunt can also be arranged at a very fair price.

We have several openings from Sept-Nov so if you have not booked an '06 safari maybe you should look at this one.

Mark, that certainly appears to be competitive, price wise. What size buff can one reasonably expect?

I think you can expect a 38" hardheaded buffalo if you are selective. If you saw Saeed's video it seemed he shot a 37"-39" buffalo about every other day on his safari this last season in Mahenge. Some definitely were soft on top but with that many buffalo you will find some nice ones.

Bulldog

The 16 day cat hunt that would allow you a lion or leopard would be $29950. The price is all inclusive other than charter or road transfer from Dar and trophy fees. Leopard should be very good and lions are always following the buffalo as they move up along the Kilambaro river.

If anyone was interested in the Mahenge North hunt but thought they could not go this year you might be interested in our decision to hold the above prices and take forward bookng for '07 and '08.
