"Hell West and Crooked" is a good read. On a sidetrack, you blokes would all enjoy "Buffaloes!" by Carl Warburton.

I'm just too much of a softy to knock babies on the head. I'm a keen hunter, but having killed four young sucker pigs years ago, I thought to never do that again (unless out of mercy). When they're big enough to be independent, the stalk is on.

I will shoot buffalo yearlings for meat, though.

However, I certainly do understand why somebody else might erradicate them, and don't condemn blokes who do. I'm just not up for it.

Nigel, I really don't know how pure they are. That question is a source of contention for graziers here, as we're the only part of Australia with a law to stop pure dingos getting shot (but they can be poisoned with a permit), but wild dogs, or anything less than pure dingo, can be shot. What they don't tell us is how to tell the difference, and with some scientists asserting that only Fraser Island dingos are pure, and others disagreeing, it is very unclear.

A pure dingo cannot bark, so the only sure fire method to identify them in the field is to wait for them to bark and then you have the green light to shoot them!! Woof woof!!

Every dog that I've ever seen up here was barking. Bloody things won't shut-up!

.308 shuts them up.

I think a few more needs to be given a dose of lead sometimes
with the numbers that are running around.
