For many years, the Savage 99 in .300 Savage used to be Standard Issue to Idaho State Police officers. One in every patrol car. In truth, a guy could do a lot worse even NOW! I owned a 99 in .300 for a while. Neat gun. Kinda weird handling. Actually handled nicely, but differently compared to most guns. |

I bought a 99 in .300 Savage when I was in training in Regina. I also bought a lee loader and loaded for it in the barracks, then took it out to my cousin's ranch and shot coyotes, jackrabbits and gophers with it. Those were the days. Mine had the Lyman aperture sight along with the brass ctg. count indicator and the brass pin cocking indicator.(pretty sure it was brass, but now I think about it, it might have been steel) |

All I can say is: Love to own a Savage again. |

I have three 99's: a .22 Savage Hi-Power. a .250-3000 Savage and a .300 Savage. One of the attractions for me was the fact that two of those three cartridges were designed by Charles Newton for the Savage Company. I have taken deer with all three of them. Nothing better for still hunting in deep woods, which unfortunately I am no longer able to do. |

Nice trio. Couldn't be more appropriate. |

G'Day Fella's, Thanks for sharing Ripp. The Model 99's were/are not common/popular down here. A mate has one in 250-3000, that was his Dads. A firearm for their time but are possibly, a Timeless design. With modern manufacturing methods being what they are, some specialist manufacturer may do a run of the Savage 99 again but I wouldn't hold my breath. Avagreatweekendeh! Homer |

Quote: The 250-3000 is the one caliber I really would have liked to have in the model 99... neat little caliber..If I were to get another, that is what I'd look for... |
