Verney-Carron

Verney-Carron is the oldest gunmaker in France with roots back to 1650 and the company as presently structured dates to 1820. The company is still owned and operated by the Verney-Carron family.

Unlike many of today's production grade rifles and shotguns with limited options all of the Verney-Carron custom shop guns are made to order, truly a bespoke gun. The customer decides on the barrel length, finished weight, stock dimensions, engraving, and even the shape of the receiver. Within reason almost any request can be accommodated.

The AZUR series of side X side rifles and shotguns feature not only a unique locking system but are made of a very high strength forged steel (35 NCD 16). The locking system has triple front hooks and triple recoil lugs with a rear lock that is approx. 1/4" thick (6mm) that provides almost one inch (24mm) of locking surface.
This same system is used for all the AZUR series guns from 410 shotguns to the 600 Nitro rifle.

In the US the guns can be seen at the Dallas Safari Club Convention, Houston Safari Club Convention, Safari Club International Convention and the Vintagers.

The Fb page on it was in French I think.

Are you able to tell us about it, ie ignorant English only readers?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Verney-Carron

This is the transition that I have:

The EPV label Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (“Living Heritage Company”) is a trademark of the French Ministry of Economy, Industry and Employment, set up to distinguish French companies who possess artisanal and/or industrial know-how that are not taught in schools anymore and therefore preserved through those companies.”

Re: Verney-Carron - EPV label

Hi,

The Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant
(Living Heritage Company, or EPV) web site was updated with an English translation.

You can now find more information about that label by clicking on the following links:
As well as Verney-Carron's English entry

Best regards to all
