Neat rifle.

Know the history of this one? Shipped from the factory or brought to Canada by a previous owner?

Interesting, but I would VERY much prefer a colour cased action.
Cool calibre - effective.

Agree on both statements.
The 7.5x55 is also a very inherently accurate cartridge. I shoot several hundred rounds of it each summer in 200 yard and 300 meter matches.

Were these ever available with a color cased action? After all, the receiver is an alloy, not steel. That said, I really don't like the decorative over-use of color case hardening these days, especially when used on bolt action rifles. They end up looking like oil slicks. Tacky.

Sorry, it recently came out of an auction, so I don't know any history on it. Can you recommend any sources for information on the Blaser K71? There isn't much on www.blaserbuds.com

I agree, some of the colour case today is rather too bright for my eyes.

Some of Turnbull's colour case comes to mind.

Re: Blaser K71 in 7.5x55 Swiss

The more I learn, the more I realize that this rifle is probably not a K77.

I think it is an original Blaser Kipplauf K71.
Proof date 1973

Re: Blaser K71 in 7.5x55 Swiss

I have solved my scope mounting problem for now. I have several Sako rifles and many Sako parts so I used two original Sako rings, both intended for the rear of the Sako dual dovetails. The rear Sako ring's recoil lug fits into the semi-circular cut in the Blaser dovetail, so there will not be any splippage of the rings in the dovetails. I filed off the recoil lug on the other Sako rear ring in order to use it as a Blaser front ring. They are windage adjustable and semi quick-detachable. I used an older 4X Swarovski scope with a duplex reticle for a perfect low fit, nearly but not quite touching the barrel at the front, and there is still room to reach the lever at the rear. When I bring the rifle up to the shoulder I am instantly aligned to the scope. So until I find something better this will do.

I also took a picture of the rifle disassembled so that you can see how it differs from the K77 and K95 locking systems.

Having those rings was fortunate. The 'fit' for you could not be better. It is so nice to have automatically aligned sights.

That is how my 14 bore's sights fit me for over 20 years. Now, my body has changed enough, to require me to align them. They are still quite close, though.

Re: Blaser K71 in 7.5x55 Swiss

Of course, it will still all be in the shooting. Although I have some ammunition, I have never fired 7.5x55 Swiss but understand that it is somewhere between a .308 and a 30-06 in terms of performance. So that is fine. I am used to shooting light rifles, so I expect the recoil will be familiar and acceptable and hopefully not too much for my scope mount. I am also hoping for reasonably good accuracy. I will not know any of this until I can shoot the rifle and that will have to wait until at least some of the snow melts...it is still about five ft. deep around my house and I think out at the range is probably the same. I lived several decades in B.C. and Alberta and know when spring arrives there, but on the East Coast spring can be elusive, sometimes until mid-May.

Re: Blaser K71 in 7.5x55 Swiss

Range test: All good. With the 4X Swarovski scope, German #4 reticle, the rifle shoots 3 shot, one inch groups at 100 yards using discount brand factory ammo (Serbian Prvi Partizan 174gr Soft Point). As expected, it kicks like a lightweight 30-06. Great trigger, but I will adjust it to be a bit heavier.
