I think that is a Leopard on the buttplate. Bet this one was bugger to stock.

Its obviously a wombat. 10 bores are great wombat guns.
The stockwork is extraordinary. Look at the lower tang - its "Y" shaped! How in the name of sanity did they inlet that?

I don't think it is a Leopard, but what it is I don't know, with the quality of the engraving you would think the artist could depict exactly what he wanted to ?

It’s the Web Foot Tree Dwelling Thylacine of almost mythical rarity.
As fine as the usual best quality Alex Henry rifles are, one could imagine that you must add special features such as the skeleton butt plate and the split bottom strap.
What a grand rifle!!

I thought it was a beaver. Bloody dangerous, the tree climbing sort. They just drop onto you - HUGE teeth.
Fantastic rifle - Yummmmy! What a pleasure/blast it would be to hunt with.

Hear it is in action....check about 15 seconds in, it is this very rifle. One hell of a comb over as well. His rifle mount does not seem to help much.

Lancaster,
from the video it looks to have been a paper case rifle. The owner does not shoot it but if I was going to work up loads I would look into plastic cases and have a mold made.
9.3x57....I agree.

If it is bored for paper cases there would be a problem using brass. The brass is much thinner, but the chamber dimensions are the same, so a rifle bored for brass cases uses a much larger diameter ball or bullet. A ball or bullet appropriate for a rifle bored for paper cases is too small to be held by the brass case.
To put it a different way, a rifle bored for a paper case will use a bullet or ball that is ~0.020" smaller in diameter than a rifle bored for a brass case.
The key to this is that the chamber dimensions remain the same. One accommodates a thick paper case with a smaller projectile; the other a thin brass case with a correspondingly larger projectile. The difference is in the bore dimensions.
