Alex Henry 450/400 3-1/4" Take-down!

Now this Henry is special!
I bought this with the other one and at the time didn't think too much of the contoured action.
All I knew is that I needed to have them regardless of their configuration.
Once home, it wasn't long before my curiosity was rewarded and I got a good look at what I had just bought.
Alex Henry falling blocks chambered in 450-400 are quite rare but the detachable barrel design on this one pushes it into stratospheric rarity. Perhaps the only one made and for sure the only example known to Winfer or Kirton (as far as their publications state).

Hi Huvius,
Would it be possible for you to give us a picture of the tab on the barrel where it locks into the action?
The rifle certainly is a beauty and it just goes to show you how inventive these old gunmakers were.

That engraving is to die for. Absolutely gorgeous rifles, Huvius. Maybe when i move to Oklahoma i could come up for a gander some time?

Here you go.
Here, as the lever is lowered, the barrel begins to rotate.
Further rotating the barrel.
Fully rotated and ready to slide out.
Barrel out.

Thanks Huvius.Its a great takedown system and no threads to stretch so the barrel would overturn.
