This place...

This might be my favorite part of this forum... And probably offers up the best wild game and hearty food suggestions on the entire interwebs... John, you have done a majestic justice to wildgame, food, and life style. I congratulate you.

I'd love to share a few recipes, but I'm afraid they aren't very traditional and are suited to our "unique" Alaskan tastes, even if the menus are from far flung lands...

Re: This place...

Dave,

Thanks for the kind words, which I take as a compliment to all the fellow members on NE.

Food and hunting go hand in hand together.

It makes a hunt and a kill so much more enjoyable if after all the hard work, carrying, butchering, preparation, the animal, fish, bird, etc can be honoured again when we enjoy it at table. And also delicious.

I know when Gryphon and I hunted for sambar, I was determined to carry at least some of the meat out. Even though it was a climb out, it was not that arduous a climb to what it may well have been if it was shot further out. If a person was fitter .... not that arduous at all.

Feel free to post your not "traditional" recipes so we can either enjoy them or feel ill. Are Alaskans raw meat eaters? I have eaten raw venison in the past, but do prefer it cooked.
