New from Swarovski for 2017

G'Day Fella's,

I'm not sure if this has already been reported on but just in case.........
FYI, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8D4J6u9_sQo

Here is another link, this time with this same rifle scope, in use in the field: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGcAqXMRios
It looks heavy but Wow, it's got "All The Fruit"!

Doh!

Re: New from Swarovski for 2017

Seen the hunting fictional movie video before and found it just as ridiculous as last time.

Designed by shooters who sit in hochsitz and think they have 30 minutes to take a shot, with endless fiddling around, changing the power of their scope, taking astronomical readings just in case the stars are against the hunt that second, ...

In the video. DUDE has all the gear. Scottish guide just wears his tweeds ....

If the client had a sensible single power fixed scope and knew how to shoot, he could have taken that fffing easy 169 metre shot ..... but no, they have to fiddle and procrastinate ... and then take a longer shot, no idea of the distance, couldn't read the TINY numbers even on my full screen, and then fiddle and fiddle again ... and then see the holdover, ffffme dead is he shooting it at 450 metres or something for that sort of holdover. Knowing the video it is probably 230 metres ....

GIVE ME GOOD OLD FIXED 2 1/2X,4X, 6X, AND 8X SCOPES, NOT ALL THIS ELECTRONIC CRAP! MAYBE EVEN TESTED PEEP AND V SIGHTS ...

Next thing they willbe adding satellite facebook cameras to these scopes so the image can be instantly transmitted to instagram .....

OK admit it might be useful for extreme long shots in mountains.

Silly video.

I suppose it is being marketed to those with lots of money and no idea of what you can do with the latest.

I am currently running the latest scope on my 7mm,well it was the latest when I bought it!

Sign me up...

Actually I prefer open sights...unless the shots are over 2000 yards..then I usually use my Weaver Grand Slam fixed 1.25-4 power..with extra heavy reticle..

Being cynical of course...I appreciate the new along with the old however, ..my fear is the art of actual hunting will be lost by everyone no longer able to close the distance on game closer than 800 yards ... again just my cynical thoughts..

NitroX,

I love my old Leupold M8 2.5x20 fixed scopes. They are tiny and solid. That said a Swarofski 1-8x24 Z8i is simply magnificent. It is kind of large but supper tough and what can't you hunt with it? The red dot is really helpful on running game and in low light. The range of 1-8 is ridiculous. I love old rifle and I prefer scopes that are properly scaled to the rifle new stuff is just hot.

Get into the spirit man!

I can't wait for the day when we have discussions about what sort of scope we will buy and then ask, what rifle should I put on it?

When people say, "I reckon that rifle looks a bit big on that scope."
