Marvellous piece of kit there!
Has a great history as well, if only it could talk!
Great article Waidmannsheil, thanks for that one.

Re: A Super Magnum Explora by Westley Richards.

ABSOLUTELY amazing.
"There is no ‘Magnum Explora’, development goes straight to the ‘Super-Magnum’. ‘Super’ derives from the Latin, meaning ‘above’. ‘Magnum’ refers to a cartridge firing a bullet with greater velocity than is usual for its size. So, ‘Super Magnum’ emphasises the greater power of this model over its originator.

Using 45 grains of Cordite, the same 730-grain, brass-capped bullet is pushed at 1,500 fps with a muzzle energy of 3,643 ft.lbs. The brass case length is lengthened to 2 ¾”. Accuracy was expected to achieve five shots at 100 yards into a 3”x 3 ½” target. It became extremely popular in India and was a proven tiger killer."

Be a hell of a recoil on that thing.

Still I love those old guns like that, they let a traveling man hunt anything or let you hunt multiple game on the one hunt

Unusual as a single barrel/single shot. Facing a tiger with one shot would take guts or stupidity!

But probably far cheaper. And more for deer and plains game. But if a poor bureaucrat in the East, it is better than a shotgun.

Re: A Super Magnum Explora by Westley Richards.

I'd have preferred a smooth bore that could shoot round balls accurately at 50m myself.
Good for in close and good for birds, that's my preference although I can shoot slugs out to 100m accurately but I don't know if slugs were particularly common back then apart from the paradox ones.
