Guys, I figured I would let you know that my H&H Paradox is up for sale! See my range report in a previous post. I have listed it on an auction site, PM me for a link. |

Look right here for that range report. |

Has this gun sold? |
What site is it listed on? |
It sold on Gun Groker, I put a bid in but let it go to the other bidder, my mistake, should have kept bidding!! |

I think he'd have done better if he'd posted here a link to the auction. |

If you don't mind, I would like to add your auction images to your original thread. |

There's a best quality 8 bore H&H Paradox in the current Rock Island auction. If you are man enough . . . https://www.rockislandauction.com/detail...us-game-shotgun Now, that will rock your world! Curl |

Capt. Unfortunately my state will not allow an 8 gauge for hunting so I may bid on this one.... https://www.rockislandauction.com/detail/82/271 |

Now that is a nice one, Ed. Now the H&H is too, of course, but it isn't a ML with 2 sets of bls. Good luck with the auction. Really nice. |

Quote: Shame about not using an 8 bore Longknife! Mind you the exploding bullets wold be an interesting turn of events for the second rifle! I wonder how they were made, even looks as though it has the mould for that old girl as well? Best of luck at the auction mate Cheers |

Those 2 moulds might cast different parts of the exploding bullet/as-per James Forsyth's instructions in his book "The Sporting Rifle and it's Projectiles". If you can get the compounds: 5 parts Potassium Chlorate 1 part Sulfur - I used Sublimed Sulfur (Flour of Sulfur) 1 part charcoal - I used ground up briquets This is the detonating compound and works "a treat". |

but will a 12 ga with exploding bullet will be a real substituten for a 8 ga? nice muzzle loader |

the 8 ga |

Don't know the answer to that, lancaster. It depends on what a person wants. Here, in Canada, even simply possession of exploding bullets is frowned upon. The ML should develop much higher MV (maybe) - but will that overcome the much larger, heavier conical of the 8 bore? The 8 should be the more powerful, however much depends on what a person wants. I personally would be much happier with the multi-barrel set on the percussion double. |

8 bore or 12 bore? I am sure the 12 bore would be good for any game animal on the American continent,,,,and it is a legal caliber here, minus the exploding part, which is illegal here too. It would be interesting to try the hollow points in it though.,,, Now the 8 bore! Yes it would be fun to shoot,,,a few times, but hunting from a stand 15 ft in the air, that might get a little scarey Too , it is illegal to use in my area,, and then there is the cost,,,,,8 bore 2 times the value of the 12 bore,,,I would have to go with the 12 bore, for my use,,, But if you NEED and 8 bore, then you need the 8 bore,,, Hmm. should have bid up that H&H posted above!!??? Decisions , decisions....,,,Ed |

but how do they load an exploding bullet with a primer on top into a muzzle loader? only a hollow ramrod and than good luck? |
No primer. Ignition is obtained through compression of the compound inside the slug. The 8 bore might also produce or be capable of producing more fpe/joules than allowed by the May 1st order-in-council-law. I think the .460 WTBY is also over the limit, ie: now prohibited. |
