10 bore rifling
|
|
Been thinking of my big 10 sxs which is smooth bore, and was thinking of having the barrels rifled like my Hollis was....do any of you know who to contact about getting a 10 sxs rifled?? My gun shoots within 8 inch groups at 50 yards with my loading, but should improve some.

Bobby Hoyte does this sort of work will let you know if it can be done with your shotgun barrels - might be too thin. He knows what he's doing. I cannot find his contact information at this time.

Thanks Daryl S, I measured them and they are pretty thick...I would only want shallow groves as my Hollis 12 ga has barely visible one and works great with heavy fosberry type bullets

Nice slow twist and would be quite optimum with 700gr. to .750gr. round balls, patched or bare if groove dia.

So, I couldn't get ahold of Tom he is on a little trip till the 21st, but did talk to another guy who makes barrels. He said they would have to be "cut" rifled, and he could not do them because his device is not wide enough for a SxS.....

Ahh - yes of course, cut rifles. Ed Rayle might also be able to do it.
