My 2007 Buck

I took this buck in western New York State off open farm land. I was in a tree stand in a small patch off hardwoods surrounded by 500 acres of alfalfa. The woods I sat in was pretty thick so finding a spot to shoot with out hitting tree branches was nerve wracking. But, I found a spot and broke the shoulder on this guy with my CVA .45 cal muzzleloader pushing Hornady sabots.

This is the largest whitetail I have ever seen in the field and also killed.

I took a mature doe a couple of days later. She is the first deer hanging on the left with the buck I shot in the middle.

The buck had been doing quite a lot of fighting, one of his eyes was pretty bruised and swollen. You can see he's taken much aggression out on the local trees with his antlers. He came past me at almost 10 in the morning.

Pretty nice buck, Aspen!

Do you weigh yours? Always interesting in weights of whitetails shot in other parts of the country.

Re: My 2007 Buck

I didn't measure the tines and it is with the taxidermist so I am not sure how long they are. The area he comes from seems to support this configuration, many of the heads I saw at the taxidermy shop had very nice brow tines.

As far as weight, there was no scale but he had a very big body and my guess was somewhere between 180 and 200 dressed.
