Harvest Season Ender

Hello gents:

A pretty good jaktid here on the ranch and in the environs. We had an extended season {not sure if that will continue next year} and that gave us meat hunters plenty of time to fill tags. As of this morning, all 7 {two of us had two tags} of my little family jaktlag scored on whitetails, with a mix of 6 bucks and 3 does. One nice 4x4 {minus a broken eyeguard} was taken by my nephew but the rest were simply meat for the pot. For our pots and for some folks and charity we donate it to.

Calibers used included the great 6.5x55 {4 animals} and of course the M146 "Potetkaster" in 9.3x57 got in on the action with 2 taken. Then a .243 with one and a .30-06 with 2.

Loads for the 6.5x55 included the 140 Prvi Partizan bullet {H4895} and the 160 grain Hornady RN {H4350}, both of which performed very well indeed.

Potetkaster used my favorite 285 grain Prvi Partizan RN and a charge of my hoarded Accurate Arms 2230C.

The '06 used a standby, the 180 Winchester Power-Point over a charge of H4350 powder and the .243 used the Federal Premium 100 grain Nosler Partition.

The end of the season brought gently falling snow and the promise of dark winter, and a small buck fallen to a Husqvarna 146 in 9.3x57.

What part of the NW are you at? I am in the seattle Tacoma Area. Nice shooting.
