Nice.

Great reward after over ten years applying for the tag.

That's cool with the Bow, I don't think that is a Shiras Moose, looks wrong & too big, maybe they have one of the other species in North Dakota, or one wandered down from Saskatchewan or Manitoba ?

I believe u are correct..think those are Canadian vs Shiras ..will have to verify

Believe there are Shiras as well in ND ..but dont think this is one ..

Moose are common in the northern third of the state..I grew up there..they enjoy the wheat, sunflowers..etc.. we were less than an hour from the border... moose were very common in the "Turtle Mountains" of ND and in the NE corner of the state..however they were seen in our area as well..

Could very well be Canadian moose, yes. The sizes in the link are for the larger Canadian species, I'm sure, course I never weighed one 'live' weight. My last & largest mature bull was 675lbs. in quarters, hanging in the cooler. The largest I've seen, was 725lbs. in quarters, no feet nor hide. That one looked more like a beef, except for the length of the legs.

Yes- a good one, indeed. The thighs were quite thick, like a beef.
Right or wrong, we usually figure the live weight to have been double what the quarters weigh, as they hang on the meat hooks.
My 675 was this one.
