Nice Deer 1895
|
|
Standing over one of her many trophy mule deer, subsistence-and-sport huntress “Gusty” Wallihan appears every inch the frontier matron with her dressy bonnet, prairie-pattern cartridge belt, floral-em broidered gauntlets, hunting knife, and Remington-Hepburn rifle. 1895

Not very common to see a Remington-Hepburn in old photos! (in my experience). Being my favourite american single shot (aesthetically) it's great to see this. Thanks for sharing.

Great job for her...BUT, she certainly doesn't look much like the snuggling type of woman does she???

LOL - seems quite self-sufficient to me, though.
This is just one of her "mule deer trophies".
Appears to be either a .45 or .40, 2 7/8" case. I would guess a long .40 straight case.
One thing about this picture, there is little to cause the eye to stray from the rifle, deer and ctg. belt or knife.
