Lets not forget to read this one as well..per the anti's and global warming mongers this isn't suppose to be happening which is why we can't import them even when hunted on a fully guided hunt..media/government propaganda at its finest..

You would think a big cal rifle would be mandatory for their camp.

Re: Polar-Bears-terrorizing-group-of-arctic-scientists

One of my colleagues when in University did some research work/study in northern Manitoba where polar bears were numerous. The student group was issued a very rusty Lee Enfield .303 to "discourage" the big white pests if things got out of hand. My colleague knew of not one single student who ever fired a shot.

It would appear that the Washington Post uses words like "terrorize" to sensationalize a rather mundane and normal part of northern life. It's kinda like city folk knowing that you don't step off a curb in front of a speeding garbage truck... Oh wait a minute, forget about the city example, life has a way of thinning out the gene pool...

I'm rooting for the bears, it's not dangerous game hunting unless it's dangerous ...

Don't lose sight of the fact that they are the biggest bears on the planet and if they decide you're going to be lunch, you've got a big issue of your hands. They are wild animals and people are bipedal protein sticks to them, but to say they "terrorize" is like those that say every Cape buffalo has fire flaming out of their nostrils and murder on their mind.

Considering hungry Male Polar Bears will kill and eat female polar bears and cubs and anything else, i would feel alot better having a decent rifle, but with mentality of do gooding animal lover types these days that refuse to carry, and i dont need ''that '', hero animal lovers ,serve them right if they get munched !I think its Norway where they make you carry a rifle if you go out into Polar Bear haunts.

As to the buffalo, you mean they don't..???

Geez, I thought every single one of them charged and you had to shoot them at a mandatory 10 feet or less to be called a true hunter???

You are thinking of Svalbard Islands, where it is mandatory to carry a rifle against polar bears when out and about.

https://www.visitnorway.com/places-to-go/svalbard-islands/

Interesting, in mountain bunkers of Svalbard lie hidden reserves of plant seeds from all around the world, including Australia, and I assume the USA, stored there to revegetate the world, or regions of the Earth if ever there is a global catastrophe wiping out vegetation and seeds. Abosolutely TRUE and amazing to think of the minds of planners to provide such reserves in a sci-fi like emergency. Shows the 'disaster' fictional movies are more regarded as possible than any of us might think.

Re: Polar-Bears-terrorizing-group-of-arctic-scientists

Reading the article, not surprised the polar bears are possibly stalking humans near the weather station as a possible food source.

The article illustrates how ridiculous anti gun laws can be and also how inflexible.

I'm willing to bet there's a guy in the shadows with a shoulder mounted cannon.we had a show for a season that was about the guides that follow the greenies around in the woods keeping them out of trouble.and in one episode of ice road truckers when they were over in Pakistan or Kashmir hell hole u can see the barrel stickin out the back of the girls truck while she was driving.
