I met this young lad when he was about 2 years old. His family are hunters which is how I really met them. Have stayed at their home for years in the fall hunting mule deer. Bought him his first shotgun..took him with me bowhunting and for a hight school graduation present got him a Sako stainless in 300 W Mag. He texted this photo to me yesterday thanking me for the rifle.. His words were "hey the rifle got the job done this morning. Een took a girl on a date the other day and she was able to handle it. Cant thank you enough for such a great weapon". If it sounds like I am proud of him, I am. He is a great guy, getting it done in college, paying for it himself and works hard during the summer to stay on top of it. Amazing how life unfolds and the influences we have in life. In this case, pretty sure it went both ways. And he is not such a little guy anymore--6'4 and 210... Ripp |

Good show! The Dallas Woods and Waters Club has always worked with kids and even sponsored a few annual fishing trips but two years ago, we initiated a formal youth activity program and added shooting safety events, events to hunt whitetail doe, feral hog, dove, turkey, etc. to the list. Some Texas PWD WMD (wildlife management deer) ranches donate free doe hunts and lodging for our outings and this has worked out very well. http://www.dwwcc.org/youthprograms.shtml The teenager in the picture from January 2015 is my grandson and he has about outgrown the youth program. |
