Nice, did you camp where you shot it, or did you shoot it from camp?

he was in camp at 630am grunting hard. I got out of my sleeping bag and shot him in my long underwear 15 feet from the small tent.

Very nice bull, and doubly nice of him to be kind enough to show up so close to camp.

Brings back memories.
Nice bulls, would you mind sharing details on rifles and loads used?
I started hunting moose with a 270 Winchester and a 356 Winchester and I'm always really curious as to what has worked for people and the shot placement used.

This bull I used my Browning BAR .338 with 250 grain remington rounds. 2 bulls before this I used my 1913 G.E. Lewis mauser in .404 Jeffery. My buddy used a Remington XCR I believe in 7mm mag.

Proof that you never know what a day in the field or on the water will bring.
Congratulations!

Cool! I hope the long underwear was bright red too.
I also went back to see what you were wearing in the photo.
A big advantage I think is not a big portage of the meat to the raft and camp!
Lots of packages of meat in one photo. A big task to get all that meat out, but at least it is cool and the meat doesn't spoil. Carrying meat out, any "interaction" with bears?

Gratulations to the Moose, nice trophy! Looks like a great camp, big tents and a boat.

we had two catarafts. We saw lots of griz and black bear tracks but no bears. Lots of wolf tracks and heard them every night but no sightings. I turned the meat into a processor and received 576lbs back. Every night but two it was down in the upper 20's
