RB Mold

I am in need of a .760 round ball mold. Anyone have suggestions for a maker, preferably in the states.

No-one needs ball mold! Nasty stuff. :-)

Re: RB Mold

Tanner moulds from the UK have or at least used to have VERY fast delivery.
Jeff passed, but his son still runs the business. They are also less expensive than most any other 'custom' mould.
I have 5 of them, in .595", .677", .710", .724" and .740".

Excellent moulds of brass that fit standard handles.
I use plyer's type wire strippers to snip off the sprues, with a slight twist and leaves a perfectly round ball, without a sprue, so "orientation" is not critical.

For me, in Canada, receiving a mould from them, is faster than getting one from the States. 7-12 days, usually. It takes 3 to 4 weeks for a mould from the States.

Re: RB Mold

+1 for Tanner Moulds.
I have a couple of them for my Bore Rifles. Excellent uniformity, easy casting, fast delivery (well….. depending upon the US Postal Service once it hits the States)

Re: RB Mold

Thanks for the replies. I ordered one from Tanner today. Was trying to avoid ordering from across the pond, haven’t had good experiences in the past, not from Tanner’s though and not molds.
Making progress on the 10 bore and wanted to be ready when it was.

Re: RB Mold

Just an update, ordered and received the mold from Tanner. It did stay in customs for a nervously long time, but no worries. Would order again with confidence.

Re: RB Mold

Glad to hear it. How long did it take? All of mine(5), ordered from BC one at a time, fee paid to a subsidiary(I assume) in Californika, they each arrived here in under 10 days.

Re: RB Mold

US Customs (same with US Post) can be infuriatingly slow.

Re: RB Mold

I assume due to being part of the "old" commonwealth, our customs works more quickly with "goods" from England.
Stuff coming up from the States is another matter. Sometimes it's quick, other times articles sit in customs for weeks.

Re: RB Mold

Indeed. Sat in customs for about 3 weeks.
Casted about 30 balls, all good. Should be shooting the 10 bore by end of the year, hopefully by Thanksgiving.
