Rigby style 275 barrel profile

Early stages of this project - likely on a M98 SR action I have.

I have a LW #722 factory chambered / threaded 25" bbl that I'm looking to have re-profiled along the lines of this beauty by Dorleac & Dorleac ...

Just trying to confirm the dimensions, seems from my research (including referencing the LW #5126 'H&H Small Calibre' profile) the dimensions I think I should be looking at are something like:

A: ~26mm
B: ~12mm
C: ~22.81mm (as per the LW #5126)
D: 29mm (current profile) - front ring of action OD=33mm (or 1.1" for those from nations that are still catching up to metric ) , so ~2mm 'step down' seems to look about right

The LW 'H&H Small Calibre' profile is below (but does not have such a pronounced scallop from the Nock's form as what I'm ideally after)

I'd welcome any input from the brains trust here - especially any who have an old Rigby etc, have taken measurements from one or have built in this style.

TIA

Re: Rigby style 275 barrel profile

I have barrel dimensions taken from a 275 Rigby with 25" barrel. I will try and find them and let you know.

Matt.

Re: Rigby style 275 barrel profile

I have found the dimensions. They are as follows:

Overall length not including thread 620mm LG
D- Dia 28.2mm
C- Dia 22mm
D- 24.5mm LG
B- 13.5mm LG
Muzzle Dia 15mm

I found the muzzle diameter to large and therefore the barrel profile to heavy but it is an original Rigby.

Hope this helps or is at least of some interests.

Matt.

Re: Rigby style 275 barrel profile

thanks a lot Matt

certainly of interest - I'm not sure there is not a 'right' set of numbers - depends a lot on individual preference (as it always has).

thanks again
