Was the Mauser ever chambered in .375 2 1/2" Nitro Express?
|
|
Gentlemen,
In the search to find a classic rifle that I can use in my state for deer hunting (we are limited to straight walled/tapered), I am curious if any maker chambered a Mauser in .375 2 1/2" Nitro Express?
In my limited research, I have found that Daniel Fraser may of chambered a few of his rifles in the cartridge, now I just need to find one!

Would Ohio allow “any” straight walled cartridge? Would a .458 Lott be legal? Or a .500NE?

Yes, As long as the bullet is larger then .357 in diameter, but no larger then .500. So yes, maybe I can try and find a good rifle in those caliber's and load them down.

hard to find but a geco mauser in 10,75x57 seems to be the right thing
458 lott case is to long, the 450 Marlin is just the right thing. metric it would be a 11,6x53 and ballistik is very similar because the marlin made 640 m/sec with a 350 grains bullet and the old 10,75x57 made 620 m/sec with a 350 grains bullet.

A bunch of Mausers were made in .375 2- 1/4" Rimless Nitro Express (essentially = 9,5x57 M-S), but I've never heard of a Mauser made in .375 2-1/2" Flanged Nitro. Not that there couldn't be some, just never heard of any. Lees, '92 Mannlichers, but not Mausers.
