Has been a Mauser Type A Calibre 30-06 rom 1927. Magazine box dimensions and halfmoon cut in the front ring receiver ring , typical for that configuration. Standard length action but small threaded. Was once rebarreld to .318 WR. The barrel extremely pitted and British style barrel contour. Odd and incorrect fitted Parker Hale scope mounting bases. Fortunately with the complete furniture and all serial numbers matching (including the leafs of the backsight). So I decided to rebuild to its original configuration and caliber and make it a working rifle. Starting with the stock: Work in progress. |
Next step. drawing of the correct barrel contour. Slightly (5mm) longer rear cylinder than the original Oberndorf. |

Looking very nice so far! |

It's gonna be NICE! |

Those A,s are so cool, would be awesome in 9.3X62 ! |
Looks like a good project, keep up the good work. Waidmannsheil. |
A's are cool for sure! That stock looks great. Just plain classic lines as a quality sporting rifle should be. Great work and looking forward to the finish! |
@thirdbite The barrel weight is approximately 2,42 lbs (1100 g ) |

justcurious, Have you noticed that Lothar Walther sells Mauser Type E barrel "in-the-white" with correct dimensions, lenght 26" or 28". It seems to be quite near of yours measurements: http://www.lothar-walther.de/47.php |
Yes I know. Those barrels are close copies , but not exactly matching the original dimensions. If you have and want to use the original sights and sling eye you have to go the hard way for a customized barrel. Those LW barrels are well suited if you intend to use the more modern Prechtl parts. AFAIK that are the barrels used for the actual production line of "Mauser Originals" |

Justcurios I have Type A Barrel/furniture in 8x60 and stock, but no action. Let me know if I can help with barrel demotions/contour. Best Eric |

Thanks for your kind offer. But the barrel is ready to install. The slightly longer barrel shank was deliberately selected by me for a better scope mounting base I prefer. |
Paradox_ - what are your plans for those? |
Update: Barrel installed . Back from proofhouse. Prefinished. But still a lot of work to be done. |
That looks very very cool and will be lovely as well as practical when finished. Steve |
Looks very good, only detail which donīt look "original" in my eyes is the way you mount the scope. |
You are quite right. But all too often I had to pay too much changing a scope. That type of mounting offers a greater flexibility. Because it will be a working rifle my old eyes need a scope. |
Minimalistic "emballishment" And Caliber markings deliberately a compromise between the proof law and spelling in the old fashioned way |
Beautiful ! You are doing a fantastic job on the resurrection . Only thing wrong is I don't own it ! |
Execellent! |
What scope mounts are those? Cant wait to see the rifle when completed! |
Recknagel Pivot Mount. Prefitting the mount |

You have done a superb job ! Congratulation for your attention to minute details. I'm always pleased to see how such butchered interesting rifles are returned at their past glory by passionate fellows. Thanks. DORLEAC www.dorleac-dorleac.com |
