Searching online gave me the basic history of the rifle. I found the information below on a forum I am not a member, so could not reach out to the person who posted it. Quote: This action does not have the Mauser logo on the bolt shroud as others on the internet show, and more interesting (to me)_ the s/n is 66000, well below the numbers from this post. Thank you! Came with a semi-inlet so finishing it will not be that difficult. Still deciding whether to finish it myself or sell it as is. |

I have had a very nice left handed SR20 from the mid 1990's. A very nicely made rifle, accurate and a joy to use. They are a level above the Sakos of similar period - a friend has both a sako to bear and an SR20, both in 270. The SR20 is just more solid. The Mauser is very similar - main difference is the safety on the bolt shroud as opposed to the trigger safety on the SR20. I think I prefer bolt shroud safeties, that block the firing pin. I would finish that rifle and then enjoy it. |
