lever release floor plate
|
|
Is the Mauser lever release floor plate a modification you can make to any of the regular military push-button style release plates? Or does it require its own bottom metal? I'm considering picking up a Husqvarna M46 with a terrible bore and a nice stock and action that I'm thinking of doing some extensive rework on.
Thanks

SB, yes it can be done. I think there is someone selling a kit for it somewhere. When I did one I made all the bits and I built the rear of the floorplate up with weld to make it level through to the rear of the plate, you'll notice how it drops away. Regards, Metal.

Jim Carmichael's gunsmithing book ("Do It Yourself Gunsmithing") shows one way to do this. It isn't terribly complicated, once you see how it is done. I've used the same general approach to convert floorplates on Mausers and Springfields.

Thanks guys. I know Brownell's sell the lever, etc, but I didn't know if it was enough.
