Beautiful rifle though I wonder who would use it to hunt with? Must be some lucky man who owns it!

Good hunting!

A lot of that European stuff looks like it has made the trip through the Weatherby Custom Shop.

Re: 250th Hambrusch Anniversary Bolt

Morten,

I am not making any reference on quality comparisons but rather all the carving and gold and silver inlays.

Sometime ago there was a small discussion on AccurateReloading about this and the Europeans said the "flashy" rifle was for the German market but other European countries went for the conservative styling.

Yes thats true. And I understand that several of the hig end weatherbys are flashy almost like this. but I doubdt they are up to it with quality. But I don't think this was so bad though. I think it is a nice rifle. a bit special with ivory tip on the stock and the cutting style of the pistolgrip and grip. the gold and silver are not that flashy. it is just so much that you easily can see it. I think it is the right amount of gold/silver on this one. If the gun should have gold on it though. But this one is apparently for collecting, and when we come to this subject, collecting, there is no limit for what people will order.

I also think that the european style, italian and English style of engraving is very interesting.

I think this rifle has been very stylishly done. Very tasteful. I too doubt it will see the African veldt chasing elephant and is destined for a display cabinet but one never knows. I especially like the magazine floorplate and trigger guard - from the bottom view.

Mike

Why don't you show us some of the these Weatherby's - but on a new thread please!

Re: 250th Hambrusch Anniversary Bolt

Nitro,

Here is a link to a thread I started on Australian Hunting Net, which also includes a link to AR. Some real offensive Wbys here

http://www.australianhunting.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2844

The link on AR has a bunch of photos of Herb Klines rifles. Photos of Elgin Gates 300 Wbys would be good but I don't have any and some that are about were only black and white.

Herb Kline was a Texas oil man and Elgin Gates was the Lear Gates Jet. Had they been H&H or Purdey minded we would have seen some interesting rifles.

Mike
