Re: PWM's 10.75x68 Mauser

say it with a tear in one eye, I sold this rifle last year when the 11,2x60 Schueler comes in the house. A Mauser collector have told me that the number indicate it was one of the last civil mauser make before the outbreak of WW 1 in 1914. When I see Johann's 10,75 remeber the pics and was thinking its a good idea to post all the different models mauser have make in this great caliber.
The gun was owned from a french colonial officer or civil servant and see many years in africa.
John Speed had have an interest for this gun because he was looking for this special model but wont pay the price.
Another one do it and the gun make place for the new one
This mauser's are great guns, loaded with wooleigh bullet's suitable for any game.
Will we see this cartridge again in new made rifles, I think its only a question of time.

According to Jon's book, 1914 had estimated serial numbers from 78200-82300. Nice Mauser. Did you ever take any game with it?

Re: PWM's 10.75x68 Mauser

no, I have also never shot it, when the gun was on the license and allready here it comes the possiblity for this Ernst Steigleder 11,2x60 Schueler. I stoped all reloading equipment shoping and turn for the schueler catridge. Because I only buy 22lr ammo and be not willing to fire rare collector cartridges like the old DWM round on the picture it never see even the range.

Wow! I would give up scopes entirely to hunt with a fine vintage rifle like that.

Re: PWM's 10.75x68 Mauser

Hallo out there
I am meanwhile the owner of this rifle, since Sept 2004, and I've shot a couple of wild boars with it-simply a great rifle, highly accurate and effective. You feel it when firing but not to compare to a 9,3x64 or even a 8x68, slightly over the 9,3x62. Yet because of the stock it flicks into sight line and you can react very fast with it. I came across 400 rounds of RWS full metal jacket some time ago, which can easily be changed for soft tips or whatever, esp. the very popular Woodleigh types. So there is enough stuff for quite a while. Triebel company in Germany provides you with excellent die sets.
As I went down in hunting somehow, I once in a while think about selling all or most of my weapons, including the mauser 10,75 - if an offer comes across that suits. More excellent information referring to this caliber to be found in hatari times from Harald Wolf in Belgium.

Do you have a 11.2x60 or the 11.2x72, I have a set of dies for the 11.2x72 if you need some.

Re: PWM's 10.75x68 Mauser

Sorry now
I once came across an original Schüler 11,2x60 in Straßbourg France, but due to ammunition Situation I didn't buy it. But if you want to sell them, www.hataritimes of Harald Wolf is a good adress.
