It's difficult to tell if the receiver has a stepped receiver ring or if the step is in the barrel. However, I believe it is the latter, since all the stepped ring actiona I have seen are single square bridge, like my .350 Rigby Magnum. The Rigby cocking piece sight might be a good option for this rifle, since the caliber clearly has longer range potential than the open sights can take advantage of. |

Did anyone here get the Lancaster that went cheap off gunbroker? |

Quote: Another option is slanted magazine and then without square bridge. |

Very nice rifle in a much classic caliber; would easily find a place on my rifle rack! Louis |

I'm not sure what you're saying, but my rifle has all three: a slanted magazine, stepped receiver ring and square bridge. |

Quote:In Speed`s first book there is some fotos of actions with stepped recerver and slanted magazine. Only square bridge missing. |

Quote: My .303 Rigby had slanted mag but with rounded tops. The Lancaster Mauser pictured doesn`t have a stepdown reciever ring. Only the earliest Magnum Mausers had stepdown front ring...like my .400/350ex. BTW.Is that your .400/350 Rigby?.. |

That step on the Lacaster is certainly part of the barrel, not of the receiver ring.Note, the crown/V London "view" mark has to be on the receiver and the barrel, not two times on the receiver ring. |

I have a Mannlicher Schoenauer of 1906 vintage from Lancaster...the case for this .300H&H is identical to mine sans the labels wich are older....very nice rifle..! |

Gee. I had a Model 95 by Charles Lancaster in .280 Ross which was identical. I sold it for a lot less than $6500. Probably shouldn't have! |
