Good use of an original Kurz action.
I think, in time, we will look back at the present as the time when Westley Richards made the best rifles in England.

Wow (or, should I say, she's a 'wowzer'?).

Not only is that absolutely stunning in its fitment and execution, but I have long been very impressed with the fast, flat shooting, and pinpoint accurate .22-250.

Wow! How would you like to reduce the population of a dog town with that jewel?

I think our friend Ahmed577 has a Kurz actioned rifle in 22/250 .Not sure of the maker.
It was in Dougs place for some time awaiting some attention.
22/250 is a calibre that I have been wanting to build a rifle on for some time.
One day maybe.

The rifle SBS470 is mentioning is a 250-3000 Kurz action takedown built for me a number of decades ago. It came with a matching s-n gun in 410 sxs droplock with a spare set of locks. I am saddened that the stainless steel poly stock best British big gamerifle died with Simon. I only wish I had the know how to post pictures.

Email me again any photos. That or other others. Always happy to do it for you. Even if it sometimes takes a while.

How do they do the square thread on what would have been a metric thread? Makes sense and is the best way to do it.

Beautiful rifle!

Re: A superb 22-250 Take-Down from Westely Richards

The thread of a Mauser is actually 12 TPI with a 55 Degree thread angle which is Whitworth, a metric thread was never used.

The thread in the picture is not a square thread but a normal V-thread with the crest of the thread polished which contrasts nicely against the rest of the blued thread.

On take-down rifles using modern actions the thread used is often an 29 degree ACME (if inch) or 30 degree Trapezoidal (if metric)especially if the rifle has a segmented thread for quick detachment.

A thread with a V form is used as with a precision cut thread the radial run-out of the barrel can be removed as the threads self center by the mating tapers of the threads.

Matt.

Thanks Matt. Bloody better eyes than me! Need to look at photos on my computer.....

As long as the threads stay tight.

Beautiful rifle and I cannot imagine that WR would let anything out with the possibility of shooting loose. Their magazine Rifles are the apogee of gunmaking IMHO.

Well, it might be fancy and shiny, but they put the cheekpiece on the wrong side.

Just say'n . . .

On a more serious note, I prefer the less flashy elegance of a Dorleac creation myself.

A few minutes work with a wood rasp will eliminate that objection. Oh, and some 80 grit paper...

Yeah, but it's probably got some cast on. Ruined for normal (not LH) people!

Cast on may be a problem, but again, maybe not. I once had a LH rifle with cast on and my eye lined up perfectly (Right hand).

I agree with preference but that is still one great looking and elegant rifle.
