John Rigby 10 of 25 London Best M98 Takedown .275 Rigby

Gun 10 of 25 is a .275 London Best takedown, that’s admired by many. This classic is modernised by incorporating a removable barrel takedown system offering practicality without compromising accuracy and aesthetics. The proud owner of this rifle requested a whitetail to be engraved on the floorplate which was completed by our in-house engraver Geoffrey Lignon. #RIGBY #GUNMAKERS #FITFORPURPOSE

Lovely - same finish I put on a friend's highly figured Belgium Browning '06 for him.
Looked the same as factory's epoxy-finish, however, was not wavy like factory and was oil - looked very similar to that Rigby.

Another Rigby made to my friend's Manfred Orth's takedown design. See my comments to this thread:

Interesting the forend is removable with this design. On the usual takedowns like this where the barrel twists and pulls out, the forend is attached still to the barrel. I assume screwed in place near the rear /collar of the barrel.

If the setup has more than one barrel, a forend is attached to each one.

That is one rifle I could own, but I would need a much fatter wallet.

The engraving is not over the top. The colour case hardening is nice. I like the stag floorplate. The stock shape is modern classical. The forend is not overly long. The bolt shroud Rigby pop up peep sight, plus express V and QD scope. The peep is a cool addition. Three sets of sights is redundant, but I think the barrel without express sights would look naked.

I do not like the excessive sized scope. Something much slimmer, lighter and smaller would be far more preferable.

I also would not go for a high gloss stock. Oil rubbed and semi matt. For actual hunting. One was hunting in the Northern Flinders Ranges for goats. And my friends high gloss stock gave off a shine, which I would see from over five kilometres away.

That take down design is an absolute gem!
Very robust and yet still trim and very neat. I want one!
kuduae your friend Manfred Orth certainly did a wonderful job when he designed that take down system.

I totally agree John. That sure is a beautiful rifle, and being a take down makes it that much better IMO.

I'll have one in 350 Rigby Magnum please.
Just dreaming of course. Damn!
