Custom 303 Mauser 98

While I was over at Patos taking some pics of his WR318 I also took a couple of his custom 98 in 303.
Another super sweet rifle built be an old mate of his.

That is a sweet looking rifle. I do like the timber in the stock.
The 303 is still a very capable round and in an accurate rifle will still shoot with the best of them.

Papascarface - sometimes Mauser 98’s in 303 come up for sale on usedguns. Keep an eye out there.

Siamese Mauser actions have all the prerequisites for accommodating rimmed cartridges, including slant magazines. The 8X52 Siamese cartridge has an overall length of 2.96" versus 3.05" for the .303, so the magazine might have to be altered or handloads adjusted to fit. The actions have been successfully used in connection with .303 British, .348 Winchester and .45-70 Government ammunition.

The Simese.....and of course the super rare Original Orbemdorf are the only action you can sucessfully do this with.
Good luck with find an Orbenforf example on UG.....only around 100?? were made...............................

Lovely rifle Pato has there.
Who was the custom maker? The gold etched ".303 British" reminds me of a particular maker. But it slips my mind at the moment????
