Patos Westly Richards 318

Photos of Patos 318 as mentioned in the show us your 318 post. Thought it deserved a post of its own. I have shot a few pigs with this rifle and ii an absolute pleasure to use.

WOW - those iron sights are super. Grain flow up the butt is perfect as well, then curves and runs straight down the forend.
The front sight's tapered shape - perfect and about identical to those on the best doubles and singles of the 1850's.

Wow, very nice. I will copy your post over to the .318 WR thread as well.

I have never seen that sort of back sight. A standing leaf, two folding leaves, and an adjustable long range leaf or sight. How usual was this? And to what sort of range did they think a 250 gr RN bullet could be shot to?

All very nice. And useful as a record of a .318 WR chambered rifle.

I think we have seen Pato's rifle in his hands in buffalo photos in the past. But never a detailed study and close up.s Good photography btw.

Thanks Claydog and Pato.

That is one sweet rifle. Ditto to Daryl's comets about the stock.

The gun has an alteration to the stock next to the action. Has it had a side mount scope at one time. I don't see any holes drilled and tapped in the side.

Great photos Claydog & a very nice classic rifle you have there Pato!
Those claw mounts must be a bugger to fit initially?
Would be kicker with a steel butt plate off the bench, but in a mob of pigs I guess you wouldn't feel it too much though!

Common English rear sight, nearly all BSA sporters/Lee Speeds have them & Cape Rifles, I think it is called a Cape Express sight, my Mannlicher M88 & M92 English sporters have them fitted, & a Cape Gun I used to own had a Cape sight with like 6 folding sight & it was in 577/450X12ga !

This is the site from my Lee Speed. Pretty ambitious for a 303!
