Recently I could come by one of the very few Parker Hale Hussar rifles made on the base of the BRNO ZG47 action. The overall quality did not reach the Czech Originals.Very shiny finish, overpolished. The open sight of poor quality. The action however was at the same standard than the original. The sloppy rolling the makers markings deteriorates otherwise. The .243 Win not just a perfect round for the standard length action. The magazine length and the rails remained unaltered. So a candidate for butchering and using the action alone as a basis for a new project ? |

My ZG47 started life as a 7X64, but as I already have a 7X64, I had it rebored to 8X64, a quite powerful medium sized cartridge. I quite agree that in its present configuration it is an insult to the quality of the action. The action deserves much better. Is this the one on egun, which recently sold for 189.00 Euros? If so, you got a terrific bargain, especially when you consider that it was equipped with a Kahles Helia 6S1 scope, which has recently sold in this country for as much as $229. |

I could not agree more that the .243 on a ZG 47 action is a poor match. It would be a great foundation for a custom build. 9.3 X 62 or .338-06 comes to mind. JC |

Yes that was the auction. Really had no need for it, but could not resist. Meanwhile sold the attached scope for a nice price. Project must wait for the moment. Restoring a commercial Mauser Type A is actually on the agenda. |

What a waste of a great action. Make it something it deserves to be. |

Parker Hale, standard action screams 404 to me. |
